Every three years, we check in with our Alumni to see what they’re building, how they’re growing, and—most importantly—what impact they’re making. And the results of the 2024 Triennial Alumni Survey?

The numbers don’t lie—SEA Change entrepreneurs are making an outsized impact, and that impact is growing. They’re scaling faster, reaching more people, and proving that social enterprise isn’t just a trend—it’s the future of business.

🚀 The BIG Numbers

  • $35.93M in lifetime revenue—That’s nearly double since 2021!

  • $21.83M in revenue just last year—Our Alumni are thriving.

  • 3,056,961+ lives impacted—That’s over three million people benefiting from SEA Change businesses.

  • 83.3% of alumni are very likely to recommend SEA Change—That’s what we call a strong community.

  • 65% of SEA Change businesses are operationalNearly double the industry standard of 33%!

  • Companies making $1M+ in lifetime revenue: 4

  • Companies making $100K+ in lifetime revenue: 13

Our entrepreneurs are building businesses that are financially sustainable and impact-driven—proving that doing good and doing well can go hand in hand.


📊 Who are our Alumni?

  • More diverse than ever. Nearly 28% of SEA Change Alumni identify as Black—up from 22% in 2021. The percentage of Asian alumni tripled in the same period. Hispanic/Latinx representation has doubled.

  • Over 60% of SEA Change businesses are women-owned. The number of women-led businesses has increased 160% since 2021!

  • More than half (55.1%) of SEA Change businesses are minority-owned.

  • 41% of Alumni businesses are “advocacy” organizations, actively working for change in their industries.

🌍 Scaling Impact

  • 37% of SEA Change Alumni businesses now operate nationwide.

  • 14% have gone international. That’s three times the number in 2021!

  • More businesses are working in high-impact areas. Since 2021, SEA Change has supported:

    • 12 more businesses serving low-income populations (+46%)

    • 6 more businesses employing people with disabilities (+38%)

    • 5 more sustainability-focused businesses (+50%)


💰 Funding & Growth

Nearly half of surveyed Alumni (48.7%) have secured funding from other sources, including VentureWell, GiveBackHack, Columbus Foundation, JumpStart Ventures, The Ohio State University, Camelback Ventures, and others.
